Introduction to Sports Nutrition

Sports nutrition is a multifaceted discipline that encompasses various factors essential for optimizing athletic performance and maintaining overall health. It involves tailoring dietary intake to meet the specific needs of athletes based on factors such as their sport, training regimen, body composition goals, and individual physiology. By prioritizing physical fitness, consuming a balanced diet rich in macronutrients and micronutrients, using supplements judiciously, and adhering to anti-doping regulations, athletes can maximize their potential and achieve their goals safely and ethically.

Course Description

Nutrition is a lifelong requirement, and the choices we make each day impact our overall health. When it comes to achieving peak performance in sports, nutrition plays a crucial role. Athletes and individuals with high levels of physical activity have increased energy needs to support their performance and recovery. They may require more carbohydrates for fuel, additional protein for muscle repair, and higher overall calorie intake compared to sedentary individuals. Therefore, our core curriculum has been organized systematically with the essential topics in sports nutrition encompassing macro and micronutrients, hydration strategies, pre-and post-workout nutrition, supplements, weight management, special diet considerations for different athletes, doping, and, anti-doping regulations.

This is a 20-hour online course with 5 modules. The chapters in this course have been curated under the expert guidance of experienced nutritionists. Every module concludes with an assessment. It’s a self-paced learning program. The range of subjects discussed here, from foundations to exceptional feats and captivating real-life athlete’s stories, can be enlightening and inspiring.

This course/ module is valid for 6 months. E- certificate can be downloaded once the student completes the course

What you will learn in this course

By taking this course, you'll delve into the intricate relationship between diet and athletic performance. Structure of Course Delivery

The entire course will be made available online. It consists of several in-depth lectures delivered by a subject matter expert, appropriately supported by slides, images, and interactive materials where necessary. The delivery has a tremendous degree of versatility. A class may be paused to allow you to take notes and refer to your textbooks (not provided). If you already know a certain part of the lecture, you can rewind it to hear it again or skip a slide or two. You are free to go back over a section at a later time if you need to review it before your assessment. You are free to take the topics in this course in whatever order you choose, even though our curriculum may prescribe otherwise.
